Assigning symbols into Electronic Navigational Charts (ENCs) is a time-consuming operation that calls for professional cartographers to put in extended hours of work. A map can take several months to compile, according to experience. It is often believed that such labour-intensive tasks should be delegated to computers in order to be completed more uniformly, precisely, quickly, and significantly less expensively. Digital symbol catalogue could be a better solution to overcome this gap in the creation of ENCs.The main objective of this research was to develop a supportive tool for assigning symbols to ENCs for making the compiling procedure more effective and efficient. Accordingly, the new web application named SYMO EXPERT has been introduced as the final outcome of the research.Cartographers, hydrographers, and mainly beginners for ENC production might find this book intriguing, especially if they are interested in developments in digital cartography.
