Lester Morgan built the first sawmill on the White River in 1868. By 1873, he established the first post office at Morgan Station's railroad depot. The White Cloud Community Library is fortunate to house three historical collections. Robert Thompson put together 17 three-ring scrapbooks containing the history of the area; the binders are filled with handwritten histories, photographs, and newspaper articles dating to the early 20th century. Dr. Sidney Douglass left handmade wooden boxes that house maps and hundreds of images. Martha Evans was the founder of the Newaygo County Historical Society and collected photographs and postcards of Newaygo County.
