Pamela Baxter has enjoyed exploring Maine since she was a child. She's especially drawn to thestate's dramatic coast, with its varied marine life, ever-shifting tides, and quickly changingweather. The coastal geology-the seed for this story-particularly fascinates her. About this book, she says, "I wanted to share that sense of intrigue and discovery with children and families, invite them into that place of wonder, and maybe even inspire a visit of their own." In addition to being a writer, Pam plays cello, teaches, and gardens at the home she shares withher husband in Kimberton, PA.
