Stanley, Sr. was born the fourth of five children to Mr. Charles and Mrs. Anna Stanley in Dublin, Georgia. Upon his parents moving to Macon, he attended M.M. Burdell Elementary School and is a 1973 graduate of Northeast High School. Rev. Stanley has been serving as pastor for Union Baptist church for 36 years. He has received a certificate of diploma in Old Testament studies from Moody Bible College and a B.A. degree in biblical studies from Carolina University of Theology.
