The book critically analyses the legal regime for local content protection in Nigeria, especially as is obtainable under the current Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development Act, 2010 popularly referred to as the Local Content Act, 2010. It has been a pressing need in the country - Nigeria - to give some form of competitive edge to indigenous players in the local markets against their multinational competition. The Local Content Act 2010 being the current legal framework for local content in Nigeria's oil and gas industry is a bold step towards achieving technology transfer. However, it needs to be examined holistically to see if it has achieved and in fact has the capacity of achieving its purpose over the years. This work comparatively analyses the local content policy in Nigeria with those other countries. It also x-rays the shortcomings of the Local Content Act and also points out the potential drawbacks to its effective implementation. In the last chapter of the work, recommendations were made which, though time bound, is in the considered view of the author necessary for seamless implementation of local content in Nigeria.
