This character-rich story reveals among others: - The company owner who tells Irena, the marketing manager, concerned for long-term success, not to worry because "there are plenty of hungry women out there." - Even after she reports being physically assaulted by a co-worker for rejecting his sexual advances, Irena's supervisor tells her to "stop complaining and get a thicker skin." For love of her work and the salary to support her children, Irena endures until she consults the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and her local Fair Employment Practices agency.
