Here is the premier collection of poems from the slightly polluted stream of consciousness mind of Pér Himself. A "sharp-witted," "big-hearted" take on all the usual grievances of the American poet. Here is the premier collection of poems from the slightly polluted stream of consciousness mind of Pér Himself. A "sharp-witted," "big-hearted" take on all the usual grievances of the American poet. About Pér: Pér Himself has lived a multitude of lives, worked a multitude of jobs, and played in countless punk, rockabilly, and hard-to-classify bands. From digging ditches to singing telegrams, Pér has done it all while writing with the passionate heart that beats in all great American poets. Pér observes life from unique angles, bringing a syncopated view of the world around and within to readers in a relatable and often humorous way. Pér finds it funny anyway. If creativity exists it finds its way to the light. One might pour themselves into their work or into their family or just pour themselves another drink until they become an expert at something even if that expertise is in avoiding doing what they love because they are afraid. A love of language whether written spoken or sung has woven it's way into everything I have done as a JOB whether that was rewriting an entire singing telegram routine on the fly, inserting inside jokes into drink menu descriptions or talking a fellow employee off the ledge. From Pér Himself About Pér Himself In the fifth grade I wrote "I HATE HATE HATE MYSELF!" in the top margin of a school paper on which I received a bad grade I knew then that I had to be a writer. That is only half true. I did write that, fully unaware that the paper had to be returned to the teacher.. I did not know then that I had to be a writer but I did learn that I had to be a bit more discreet about my self-loathing. That was then. Much of my life has not really been lived fully in the moment because I've been mostly thinking about how I am going to write about the moment in a way that will invite someone who was not there to share the moment, to help someone who was there relive the moment, or both. This is a good thing. Once I heard someone laugh or saw them tear up over something I had written I felt a connection like none I had ever known. I hope my writing will connect us in some meaningful way. The best feeling of all was surprising a guest who was having a rough day by making them smile, remembering their story or giving them a free pancake (God bless Snooze An AM Eatery!).
