Autorenporträt
Philip Jay Marlin was born in Queens, NYC, on October 16, 1963 to Kenneth and Rebecca who had a short-lived marriage. His mother taught him to love art and words at an early age. She showed him how to paint with acrylics when he was ten. While in college in the late 1980s he was experimenting with writing song lyrics until an acquaintance gave him a copy of the slim volume of Whitman's 1855 version of Leaves of Grass. It was after this reading that he decided to devote himself to poetry. Soon after college he also began his visual art career. He now resides in Charlottesville, VA. He is an avid user of the poetry and art opportunities so numerous in this college town.
