I think I had a childhood there similar to the one other kids in our Daasanach tribe experienced. Things were not always easy, I grew up believing this life was just normal for any child. With time I discovered another world, also spending time in modern cities like Nairobi. Only then I realized that the life we were living at home is not known to many people. Seeing that our traditional life has become rare I developed the desire to write about our tribe. I was lucky to find somebody who decided to help me to collect my memories of my childhood in our remote tribe and to put it on paper.

Das Berufsleben von Philipp Bonhoeffer war sehr abwechslungsreich. Als Kinderkardiologe erfand er eine Reihe von Geräten für die Behandlung von herzkranken Kindern. Seine bemerkenswerteste Erfindung war die erste Technik zur Implantation einer Herzklappe ohne Operation am offenen Herzen. Während seiner gesamten Laufbahn war er an humanitärer Medizin interessiert. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit reiste er in zahlreiche afrikanische Länder. Sein Interesse für Afrika führte dazu, dass er die einheimischen Kulturen gut kennenlernte. Außerdem ist er ein Geigenbauer und Musiker. Heute spielen viele angesehene Musiker auf seinen Instrumenten. La sua invenzione più importante è stata la prima tecnica per impiantare una valvola cardiaca senza un intervento a cuore aperto. Nel corso della sua carriera si è interessato alla medicina umanitaria. Nell'ambito di questo lavoro ha viaggiato in numerosi paesi africani. Il suo interesse per l'Africa lo ha portato a conoscere bene le culture indigene. Inoltre, è liutaio e musicista. Oggi molti illustri musicisti suonano i suoi strumenti. As a pediatric cardiologist he invented a number of devices for the treatment of children with heart disease. His most notable invention was the first technique to implant a heart valve without open heart surgery. Throughout his career he was interested in humanitarian medicine. Within this work he travelled to numerous African countries. His interest for Africa led him to become well acquainted with indigenous cultures. Further, he is a violinmaker and a musician. Today many distinguished musicians play his instruments. Recently he created a center for Science and Music in Tuscany.
