Pieter Delport grew up with a passion for languages and reading. At the age of 8, he read two youth novels a day - the second one with a torch under the blanket after the sleeping deadline. He obtained a degree in African languages, became a journalist, wrote three youth novels and numerous scripts for radio and TV. One drama series, Khayalethu, got an award for best script. His grandchild, born on his birthday, and thereafter contact with all her friends stirred a passion in him for stories for the little ones.
