Investigations were carried out to find out the effect of different levels of nitrogen and phosphorus on growth, yield and quality of COBH 1 hybrid brinjal. Plants treated with higher dose of nutrients exhibited better growth in terms of plant height, dry matter production and leaf area index compared to lower dose. The treatment 200: 100 kg of NP per hectare exhibited maximum plant height. The number of branches and the root growth were higher with high dose of nutrients. Under 200: 100 kg of NP per hactare, the highest yield was obtained. When qualitative traits were considered the ascorbic acid was increased with higher dose of nutrients. Similarly at higher dose of N the total phenol content of the fruits was significantly reduced. From the studies on the uptake of major nutrients, it was found that the increased uptake of nitrogen had a strong positive influence on increasing the fruit yield. Economic analysis revealed that the optimum dose of NPK was found to be 175:100:100kg per hectare. With the maximum benefit cost ratio of 4.30 during kharif and 4.07 during rabi.
