The collection attempts to narrate the ways of improving teaching English in simple ways, using limited technological advancements, adopting new methodologies and techniques bearing the special needs and economic constraints in mind to perform well in colleges. Practitioner's perspective is in the Indian context; however most of the concepts have been universalised, English being the medium of communication in the 'global village'. A teacher in a classroom is a decision making icon; mistakes once done cannot be undone. Hence he or she is to be prepared to expect the unexpected and play the role of a mature counsellor. The special feature of this compilation is that the individual articles were written or presented at different times with intervals for recollection, using learnt factors at different levels. Thirty five years of my dedicated active teaching experience fills the list of bibliography and the reference list mainly except the quotations included in the stream of writing itself
