This book deals with the market share of pesticide companies and paddy farmers' practices on crop protection in Southern India. The book highlights the market share of companies, plant protection practices of paddy farmers, and suggested suitable strategies for proper usage of pesticides to farmers and suggested suitable strategies for increasing the sales of retailers. The study was conducted in Cuddalore and Villupuram districts in which four blocks were purposely selected for the study based on high acreage of paddy. The total pesticides sales turnover of the sample dealers was highest in Villupuram followed by Cuddalore Districts. Major share of the dealers (38.57 per cent) were graduates, 49 per cent of them had less than 20 per cent willingness to buy case firm products. In both districts case firm was the most stable brand among the major pesticide brands in the selected districts as reflected by its probability of retention of more than 50 percent of the previous share. Seed rate and most of the plant protection measures the usage of inputs were above the level of recommendations. FYM, fertilizers and micro nutrients the usage of inputs were low.
