The Dry Well is a historical novel set in mid-20th century Brazil. This fictional narrative follows the course of Daniel's life from deprivation to fortitude after he survives a severe typhoid outbreak. The villagers of Lajedo determined Daniel's miraculous healing to be a sign of God's prophetic calling upon his life as a preacher. While sent out for Seminary training in Rio de Janeiro, Daniel watches Brazil's fragile democracy crumble under an atmosphere of political strife. At this historical juncture, man and nation both stagger away from God's design of justice and purity, choosing a path of corruption that leaves tragic consequences in its wake. The Dry Well is a tale of hope and calamity where facts real and imagined intertwine, allowing readers of all ages to reflect on choices we are tempted to make outside of God's perfect purpose for our lives (Numbers 32:23).
