About the Author - Rosetta Smoot Roberson grew up in Eastover, SC as did Sarah Mae Flemming. Ms. Roberson is a retired mathematics teacher. She holds education degrees from North Carolina A&T and the University of South Carolina. She earned a certificate from the Institute of Children's Literature (2011) and from an online AARP course-Creative Writing: Children's Books-Mindedge Learning (2022). A large picture of Sarah Mae Flemming hangs in Goodwill Baptist Church fellowship hall. Ms. Roberson believes a community should keep its history alive. She continues to tutor math students and is the mother of two adult daughters.

About the Illustrator - Christon Khian Simons is an eighth grader of Fairfield School District in Winnsboro, S.C. He is a 1st place winner in the 24th quadrennial convention on Christian Education (2018). His artwork was published in an anthology, Celebrating Art (2018). He is a distant relative of Sarah Mae Flemming.
