From the famous to the obscure, author Robert Jeanfreau offers a historical overview of more than forty monuments. This pictorial guidebook includes sections on Andrew Jackson, the general who led the American forces to victory during the Battle of New Orleans; Josephine Newcomb, the founder of Newcomb College; and Joan of Arc, the savior and Maid of Orleans. Each work of art reminds both locals and visitors alike that New Orleans can overcome any challenge. Dr. Robert Jeanfreau practices internal medicine. After he received a BA from Loyola University, he attended LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans. Because of his enthusiasm for history, he became a member of the Louisiana Historical Society. Jeanfreau began conducting research for The Story Behind the Stone after passing a statue on Esplanade Avenue dedicated to Charles Gayarrï¿1/2. Jeanfreau lives in Metairie, Louisiana.

Dr. Robert Jeanfreau practices internal medicine. Before attending LSU Medical School in New Orleans, he earned a BA from Loyola University. Jeanfreau's concept for Story Behind the Stone was conceived when he drove by a statue on Esplanade Avenue, dedicated to Charles Gayarre. Eager to learn more, Jeanfreau began the research that eventually led to a book. He is a member of the Louisiana Historical Society and lives in Metairie, Louisiana.
