Osseointegration of implants coated with titanium carbide nanostrucure

A hard nanostructured Titanium Carbide film deposited on titanium implants by the simple Ion Plating Plasma Assisted procedure protects the implant from the harsh oxidizing conditions of biological tissues and stimulate, by its micro and nano roughness and chemistry, the adhesion, proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts and the recruitment of platelets, promoting a more efficient and faster osseointegration of the implant into bone.

Autor

Roberto Scandurra retired from full Professor of Chemistry at the Faculty of Medicine of University of Rome La Sapienza. Scientific activity was addressed to structure and function of many proteins. He is presently involved in studying some molecules active on osteoarthritis and on thin films with stimulating activity on osteoblasts.
