The book that we are presenting here to readers was written by its French author, historian Roger Regis, in the form of a narrative, and it is entitled: "Pauline Faures," which is the name of the woman whom Napoleon Bonaparte loved in Egypt during his leadership of the French campaign in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Through this love story, the author tells the story of the French campaign. Thus, in his book about Pauline Faures, he is a historian and a novelist at the same time. The distinguished writer and translator, Habib Jamati, translated this historical story into Arabic, and one of the most striking opinions expressed by some French historians who excelled in defending it was the opinion that the French campaign against Egypt was not a "colonial" adventure, but rather a "scientific" project that Bonaparte achieved by force of arms. This is a wrong opinion; The campaign was colonialism above all else, even if it was coupled with science, it produced significant results.
