Clusterbean (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba L.) has been known since ancient times for green fodder, cattle feed, vegetable and green manuring purposes. Stem rot of clusterbean caused by Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc. has become a serious problem in recent years and caused heavy economic loss by reducing yield in Gujarat state.The yield loss caused by the pathogen ranges from 50-70 per cent depending upon the disease severty. Considering, the severity and its destructive nature, it has become a limiting factor for the cultivation of clusterbean crop in Gujarat. In fact, there is no much work done on this disease.
