The book introduces a research on Lithuanian professional glass art development, analysis of various glass works, and a presentation of the most famous Lithuanian glass artists' creation starting with 1930s until nowadays. The situation of decorative art in interwar Lithuania was insufficiently favourable to glass art development, although in the second half of the 20th century Lithuanian glass art school has begun to form in the two major cities of Lithuania - Vilnius and Kaunas. A tradition of training stained-glass artists has developed in Vilnius, while in Kaunas glass art studios were established, where artists are still taught today. The emergence of professional academic school gradually expanded the circle of Lithuanian glass authors. The before mentioned processes are properly analyzed in the book. Moreover, the book also discusses the development of different types of glass objects. Quite late, in the end of the 20th century, a studio glass movement came to Lithuania. Afterwards, conceptual art was also introduced into Lithuanian glass, represented by the artists of young generation, who have graduated at the beginning of the 21st century.
