The research entitled "Institutional involvement and peoples' perception towards urban forestry" was conducted in Lalitpur district, Nepal. The research aimed to identify the institutions working in the field of urban forestry and their activities. It also assessed the level of awareness and perception of people towards urban forestry. The findings of the study revealed that there are number of institutions working in the field of urban forestry. Park development, plantations and raising awareness are the major activities of urban forestry. The research also showed that not all the people were known about the benefits of urban forestry and there was less participation of people in urban forestry activities. The perception of different respondents were some how same in different aspects of Urban Forestry. The present study recommends that government should take immediate steps to establish the institutional setup to facilitate the urban forestry programmes and urban forestry should be developed as a part of urban infrastructure.
