The Northward movement of the Indian plate against the Eurasian continent was powered by the Spreading ridge systems in the Indian Ocean. There are two such ridge systems in the North-western Indian Ocean namely, Central Indian Ridge and the Carlsberg Ridge. These two ridge systems along with the Southeast Indian Ridge in the Central Indian Ocean control the present-day Northeast - Southwest movement of the Indian Plate. This work aims to understand the general seismicity and the nature of source of spreading in Central Indian Ridge and the Carlsberg Ridge
