The study was conducted by a team of INCD URBAN-INCERC - URBANPROIECT BRANCH coordinated by Elena Stancu and including Amelia Cazacu, Alina Chicos, Mariana Dorobantu, Roxana Dumitru, Cristina Ivana, Lidia Florescu, Oana Popescu, Raluca Petre, and Monica Tache, and funded by the Ministry of Education and Research under the National Research Programme - NUCLEU, Contract No. 3/2012, Project code PN 09 01 09 - "Contribution of Tourism to the Economic Growth of the Development Regions in Southern Romania through Natural and Cultural Heritage Valorization (regions 2 South-East, 3 South-Muntenia, 4 South-West Oltenia and 8 Bucharest-Ilfov)" - Phase 1. The deliverables of this study fall within the scope and objectives of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region - EUSDR. The study presents the existent social and economic situation in the Romanian Danube space and the possibilities to achieve a sustainable development of this area.
