This book is a comprehensive guide to 3D printing and 3D bioprinting methods and their application in oral and maxillofacial surgeries. Among the 3D printing methods considered are fused deposition modeling, selective laser sintering, photopolymer jetting, powder binder printing, and stereolithography, while the coverage of 3D bioprinting encompasses inkjet, microextrusion, and laser techniques. In each case, the relevance of the technique to oral and maxillofacial surgery is explained. In addition, the available inks and bioinks for 3D printing are reviewed. Produktbeschreibung
The roles of soft and hard tissue printing in oral and maxillofacial tissue engineering and the use of 3D printing in multi- and interfacial tissue engineering are then examined in depth. The particular value of 3D printing in the treatment of critically sized defects is discussed separately. Finally, up-to-date information is provided on guided tissue/bone regeneration using 3D printing. The book will be of interest to both oraland maxillofacial surgeons and biomedical engineers.

Autorenporträt
Lobat Tayebi is Associate Professor and Director of Research at the Marquette University School of Dentistry, Milwaukee, WI. She has published ~300 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters (h-index: 44) and has several inventions on 3D printed constructs for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeries. She is the editor/co-editor of the books "Applications of Biomedical Engineering in Dentistry" (Springer) and "Biomaterials for Oral and Dental Tissue Engineering" (Elsevier, Selected as the "#1 Best Biomaterials Book of All Time" by Bookauthority). Dr. Tayebi received a BSc degree in Physics from the Sharif University of Technology in Tehran in 2002 and an MSc degree from the Department of Engineering Physics at McMaster University in 2006. She completed her Ph.D. in the Department of Applied Science at the University of California-Davis in 2011. With a background in physics and years of experience in biomedicine, she is interested in interdisciplinary research considering tailored approaches for each challenge.

Reza Masaeli is Assistant Professor in the Dental Biomaterials Department, School of Dentistry, Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran, Iran. He gained his DDS at Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2004 and in 2015 was awarded his PhD in Dental Biomaterials by Tehran University of Medical Sciences for a thesis entitled "Preparation, characterization and drug controlled-release properties of modified calcium phosphate/PLGA nanocomposite bone cement". Dr. Masaeli's principal research interests include dental biomaterials, tissue engineering, and 3D printing.

Kavosh Zandsalimi gained an MSc in Biophysics from the Institute of Biophysics and Biochemistry (IBB), University of Tehran in 2012. He completed his PhD in Biomedical Engineering (Biomaterials) at the Department of Life Science Engineering, University of Tehran in 2020. Dr. Zandsalimi's main research interests include tissue engineering, drug delivery, and 3D(bio)printing.
