This is very interesting and well designed cross-sectional comparative exploratory study, aiming at early detection of osteoporosis among employees of Minia University and also to study the most important risk factors that may contribute to the occurrence of osteoporosis. Rising awareness of employees regarding osteoporosis and its determinants was also carried out in a trial to prevent, postpone or retard the progress of the disease. High smoking index, sedentary lifestyle as well as faulty dietary habits and family history greatly impacted and predisposed to the occurrence of osteoporosis and osteopenia among them. Nearly a quarter of study participants were found to have osteoporosis using "quantitative computed tomography" on 1-4 lumber vertebrae in the CT unit. The findings of the study have ascertained that osteoporosis occur twice as high among women than men and positively correlated with age.
