In the story there are creatures called Mythicals who from come from a different world. Thousands years ago, a collision between their world and the earth blended the two worlds into one and it has been so ever since. Mythicals look like humans but have the unique ability to turn into mythical creatures, like like dragons or phoenixes at will, though a strong emotional reaction might cause them to uncontrollably assume mythical form.

They Remmington Taylor started writing this book at the age of eleven, as a way of spreading awareness and creating a positive representation of ME or myalgic encephalomyelitis, a condition, which afflicts both Remmington and the main character, Lucy.
