This book systematically and effectively explores the influence of Dholuo on the English prepositional errors. The writer has delved into the area of prepositions which has always been ignored perhaps because of its peripheral role in communication. However, as the book reveals, prepositions play such a pivotal role in communication that erring in their usage results in communication breakdown. The writer found that transfer of meanings from Dholuo to English was one of the factors responsible for the errors. Therefore, she strongly recommends that prepositions be taught within communication contexts in the Second Language. This book is intended to benefit all the stakeholders in the teaching and learning of prepositions in English as a Second Language.
