Neem oil and seed extract @ 1%, 2% and 3% were compared with chloropyrifos for the control of H. armigera on tomato. Minimum No. of eggs were recorded in neem oil 3%, and larvae in chloropyrifos, but both were high in control plot. Maximum yield was recorded in neem seed extract 2%, followed by neem seed extract 1% and 3%, but it was lower in control plot. Percent borer infestation was minimum in chloropyrifos and maximum in control plot. The incidence of Arvenia caratovora was also observed but it was non significant in all the treatments. Maximum fruit size was recorded in neem seed extract 2% and in neem oil 3% while minimum fruit size was recorded in control. Based on the total yield and lower toxicity to the environment as well as human being, neem oil and neem seed extract are the most promising insecticide for the effective management of Helicoverpa armigera.
