Hence, intelligent implementation of radio resource management layer is urgently required to support more and more cutting-edge applications. Scheduling and resource allocation is one of the important tasks of the radio resource management layer in LTE-Advanced systems. Uplink scheduling and resource allocation is more challenging compared to the downlink case because of individual users' power constraints and the discrete nature of spectrum assignment. This book is about three uplink scheduling and resource allocation schemes of LTE-Advanced systems that incorporate relay(s) or carry heterogeneous traffic, which are basically the creative applications of convex optimization and game theory.

Rukhsana Ruby obtained her Masters and PhD degrees from University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia on 2009 and 2015, respectively. Her resource interest includes resource management and optimization in wireless networks. She published more than 20 papers in top-level journals and conferences.
