Of note, Grindr and Jack'd comprise as two of the most popular location based real-time dating applications, tailored for communication between men. While these apps have provided a platform for gay men to find immediate sexual gratification, their applications in the wider context of the gay community, remain poorly defined. Despite their widespread use by individuals across the globe, the role in which gay dating apps play in shaping the gay communities in different countries, have not yet been explored fully. In particular, differential attitudes and applications towards these dating platforms are exhibited by individuals hailing from western and eastern civilisations.
