After a thirty-year career as a senior executive in high-tech marketing, Stewart earned his PhD in 2012 from the University of Birmingham. His research focus is on the administration, tactics and operations of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. He has published two books, three chapters, and 12 articles on these topics. He lives in Ladysmith British Columbia with his wife.
