Grain breakage taking place in a grain handling and conditioning plant has the overall effect of reducing the market value of food grains. This book details and analyses the grain breakage in corn grain (Maize) during conveyance through a drag chain conveyor in a typical grain handling and conditioning plant. The Author puts forward a detailed analysis of grain breakage taking place in corn through experiments which were carried out in an advanced grain handling plant and later presents a simplified numerical model based on the principles of Discrete Element Method (DEM). The model has been applied in optimizing both design and operational parameters aimed at achieving optimum results in the operations of typical grain handling plant.
