William L. McCarron served in the US Army for over 24 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. He served as an Infantry Platoon Leader and Executive officer with B Company 1st Battalion (ABN), 8th Cavalry Regiment 1st Cavalry Division in 1966-67 and as a Military Advisor in the Mekong Delta, Re-public of Vietnam in 1969-70. McCarron served in various assignments throughout the United States and in the Pacif-ic Theater during his career. His awards include the Silver Star for Gallantry, the Legion of Merit, the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars for meritorious service, and 001) various other awards and decorations during his service to the United States. Ate.": He was also a parachutist and a US Army Ranger. On retiring from the Army he served an additional 11 years with the Department of Defense as a Senior Intel-ligence Officer (Advisor) before permanently retiring in 1999. He was married to wife Connie for 50 years prior to her death in 2017. He has three sons, seven.: andchildren and two great grandchildren. He lives in Hartwell, Georgia.
