This book explores the the level of adherence of Community Health Workers(CHWs), also known as Village Health Team (VHT ) members in Uganda, to Ministry of Health practice guidelines. Many studies have explored the adherence of these CHWs/VHTs to specific roles only yet the communities in Uganda need holistic health care and therefore previous studies do not address this. In addition, in order to meet the Health related Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030, reviving the CHW/VHT concept would be one key step. 157 VHTs were interviewed, and four focused group discussions were held in Mella, a sub county in Tororo, Uganda, known for its active VHTs, and the findings were rather interesting giving the idea that VHTs/CHWs can multi task on roles with the aim of providing holistic health care to their communities. Hopefully, this study can be an eye opener to train CHWs/VHTs in holistic community health care provision.
Autorenporträt
As a child, I missed some of my scheduled vaccinations due to an almost non existent health system because of the ongoing war. I later become a medical doctor, the war had long stopped but the system was not any better this time due to poor leadership priorities. I cant stand seeing patients suffer, its my dream to have a functional health system.
