This study attempts to determine possibility of
improving productivity of peanut production in hilly
zone of Thua Thien Hue province. It consists of
field survey and field experiment. Field survey aims
to gain knowledge about farming systems and current
farmers'' practices in peanut production and also to
access the variation in peanut yield and limiting
factors of peanut production in the hilly zone. The
field experiment was conducted to examine the effect
of phosphorous fertilizer and lime on peanut yield
improvement in hilly zone of Thua Thien Hue
province. Experimental design consists of two
factors with were four rates of phosphorous
fertilizer and four rates of lime. It was assigned
in split plot design with three replications. Local
peanut variety was selected for the experiment. In
conclusion, peanut production was not only giving
high gross margin but also improving soil fertility
in cropping systemsa as well as reducing pressure of
labor shortage in production system in the hilly
zone.
