The role of spirituality in the healing of women affected by domestic violence is a subject that is receiving greater and greater attention by researchers and health practitioners alike, and will only grow in importance as the health care profession embraces a more holistic view of health and healing. Through their analysis of nine published research articles, Leggett and Thurston look at how current studies operationalize the term spirituality, how authors represent the relationship between spirituality and healing in their articles, and how they describes the impact of spirituality on the healing of women affected by domestic violence. The authors furthermore identify coherence, as well as divergence within the discourse on spirituality and healing in relation to domestic violence, offering insights into areas that require further study in relation to the subject.
