This study assesses student teachers conception, practice and challenges of action research project during practicum. The subjects of the study were student teachers, University supervisors and school-based supervisors. The depictions of descriptive analyses show that the student teachers did not make considerable efforts in undertaking action research project however they seemed to show positive attitude towards it. In addition, lack of enough research skills, the insufficiency of English language teaching research courses offered and lack of professional support and encouragement from supervisors were some of the most serious research constraints reported to hamper their involvement in action research. This book also discussed the involvement of student teachers in action research would help to contribute to their professional development, in particular, and contribute to the betterment of English language teaching in general.

Tadele Assefa holds a Mastere's of Arts in TEFL and Bachlors of Education Degree in Teaching English as a Foreign Language. He is lecturer in the English Department at University of Jimma where he teaches EFL and Research courses.
