Do you believe in ghosts? Spirits are everywhere, or at least that's what more than 45% of the population choose to believe. Spirits can show up in theaters, eateries, hospitals, schools, homes, old battlefields, almost any place where there was life & death, there could be a haunting. In East Tennessee's rural regions you won't have to look far to hear or see something unexplainable. Join me as we visit an old theater in Oak Ridge, TN., rumors circulate about a kindly gentleman specter who enjoys popcorn with his movies. * Perhaps the newer theater has a few spirits roaming around, also. Viewers have been interrupted by the playful spirits while trying to watch a movie, including the author, be sure to read about her encounter. * In historic Jonesboro, TN., a retail business owner happily assists you with your shopping, and just as happily recognizes that a quirky, ethereal 'essence' loves to make itself known as it watches the shoppers, and moves the merchandise during and after regular business hours. * In Harriman, TN, the old Temperance building has had many faces over the years, including a jail a long time ago. It is reputedly haunted by several spirits. Dark souls with a blighted past haunt the building, as does a young child phantom, a little girl who loves to giggle and dart past the living. Her identity and past eludes us, but her presence is definitely notable. * Ghosts and witches are clearly not in the same category, but how a witch who is now a ghost? There was a witch who lived in Morgan County, TN., who tried to stay to herself, but her reputation was so well known that the locals harassed her repeatedly. Sadly the infatuation with her spells, curses and her house continued long after she died. Few could linger in the dilapidated structure as it seems the witch herself, in ghostly form, still resides there, and even in spirit form the witch does not welcome visitors! * These and other short ghost stories from Loudon County, Campbell County, Anderson County and Sevier County, Tennessee beg you to read and wonder about the weird, spooky tales. All sites have been visited, or investigated by the author. All have proven to be authentic. IF you choose to believe.
