Rising Phoenix: Controlling the Flames, Cooling the Embers and Rising from the Ashes, is a book that will motivate readers from every walk of life to release their inner phoenix and rise from the ashes of their pain. Born in Miami, Florida to a mother who was addicted to crack cocaine and surviving a childhood of abuse, author Tarreka Garnett, takes readers through her fire. Garnett narrates how she navigated the trauma of her childhood and discusses the steps she took to free herself from the mental and emotional scars that negatively affected her life and hindered her personal growth. Garnett uses the details of her life to support the readers' understanding of how seemingly small events in our lives can have long-lasting effects. She discusses her realization that she had been walking through life masking her true self and invites the readers to use the strategies she acquired while on her journey to healing. This book will motivate any person who has struggled with intrinsic motivation at some point in their life. It is a refreshing take on life, love of self, and the release of strongholds that endeavor to keep one stuck in a position of complacency.

Autorenporträt
About the Author Tarreka Garnett, author of: The Sleepover, Rising Phoenix- Controlling the Flames, Cooling the Embers, and Rising from the Ashes, and Melanites-The Origin, was born and raised in Miami, Florida. After graduating from Florida A&M University, with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, she went on to become an educator in Tampa, Florida. For the last 14 years she has dedicated her life to advocating for and educating students in high poverty areas of Hillsborough, County. As an educator she noticed that of all the origin stories she's read to her students, there wasn't a story that told children about the melanin in their skin. Tarreka wrote Melanites-The Origin because she believed that it is important for children of color to know why they have melanin in their skin and to see the beauty of that melanin.
