Autorenporträt
Theresa Kilpatrick has been a teacher, an evaluator, instructor, and consultant in such diverse areas as an Indian reservation in Canada, the Department of Civil Rights, the Michigan Society of Gerontology, and was the first non-Hispanic woman president of the Michigan Association of Bilingual Education. She has a master's degree in bilingual/multicultural education. Recently she was invited to work with a group of doctors at Michigan State University to help medical students gain more empathy in treating their patients. Alexis Hilliar-Hine has studied interpreter training for the hearing impaired, massage therapy, participated in competitive swimming, and had a short career in Emergency Services as an Emergency Medical Technician and CPR instructor. She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in nursing. Perhaps the most challenging part of her early life was coming to terms with being a lesbian. She is aware of how important it is to speak about gay and lesbian issues, and to create awareness of various impacts on those with alternative lifestyles. Alexis currently works full-time as an ICU nurse at Sparrow Hospital.
