Spectral properties of organic molecules are extensively studied by fluorescence spectroscopy. The spectral properties of organic molecules include dipole moment, quantum yield, quenching and so on, which find their applications in photopolymerization, photochromic materials, laser technology, chemical sensors, conversion and storage of solar energy, biological systems for molecular devices, drugs for cancer therapy etc. The interaction of nanoparticles like silver, gold and titanium dioxide with organic molecules is being explored nowadays like never before, in view of their role in drug delivery systems, bio-engineering, DNA analysis, optical imaging and photodynamic therapy for cancer treatment, sensors and so on. We undertook the investigation on the spectral properties of coumarin molecules and their interaction with silver and titanium dioxide nanoparticles. The significant result, we have obtained prompted us to bring out our research work in the form of a book.
