Thomas Beatie was born and raised in Hawaii—as a girl, Tracy. Thomas made the transition to a male in the late 1990s. In July 2008, he gave birth to his daughter, Susan. He is currently expecting his second child. Beatie is happily married to his wife, Nancy, and is a custom screenprinter and owner of Define Normal Clothing Company. Thomas, Nancy, and Susan live in Bend, OR. Labor of Love is Beatie’s first book and the product of a lifelong passion since the age of seventeen.
