Dr. Triba Gary, the author of "S is for Sweetgrass," was born in Chattanooga, TN. From a young age, she developed a deep passion for history and had a knack for uncovering "untold" stories. Her curiosity about the past eventually led her to focus her studies on the cultural preservation of the Gullah-Geechee community while pursuing her doctorate at Pepperdine University.S is for Sweetgrass marks Dr. Gary's first venture into the world of children's literature. This book is a testament to her dedication to sharing the lesser-known aspects of history with young readers, fostering an appreciation for diverse cultures and their traditions. Through her storytelling, she introduces children to the rich heritage of the Gullah-Geechee people, illuminating their unique language, traditions, and way of life.Currently residing in Nashville, TN, Dr. Gary cherishes the company of her family and friends. She is the proud mother of three adult sons, Cam, Bronson, and Emerson Bryce, and the doting owner of a grand cat named Luna. In her leisure time, Dr. Gary indulges in reading historical books, further expanding her knowledge of the past, and watching sports.With her genuine passion for history and her commitment to education, Dr. Triba Gary creates engaging and informative stories that captivate young minds.
