Pulpotomy is a procedure for retaining the traumatized or carious deciduous or permanent tooth, which if not performed will lead ultimately to tooth extraction and thus also relieves the child from pain and distress of pulpal pain. Pulpotomy is commonly defined as removal of the coronal portion of the pulp and the covering the remaining pulp stump with a medication dressing in order to maintain the vitality of radicular pulp tissue.
