As we know that copyright only protects the expression and not the underlying concepts in software related inventions, and patent protection is potentially much broader. However, as the computer age progressed, computers and software took on an increasingly central role. Today, computers and computer software are at the forefront of technology. Although Patent Law has been slow to adapt, there have been rapid advances in the law in this area recently. Different countries and regional offices have different standards for granting patents, particularly for software or computer-implemented inventions.
