In the world, food crops are very important energy source and vital nutrient repository for human kind.Viral infection causes major devastating diseases in the crop and crop loss.Peanut bud Necrosis virus is major peanut crop devastating virus.RNA-i approach is the most advanced technology to reduce the infection in living systems.The combination of RNA-i approach along with coat proteins is the novel approach for virus demolition in the crops.In this approach,plant itself generates resistance towards particular viral infection.Here,we have standardized a protocol and performed a technique towards virus resistance transgenic groundnut plant production.The present book reveals how we have introduced virus resistance in the plant through transgenic approach.We have cloned virus coat protein genes which are important for virus survival and infection inside the plants.By targeting virus coat proteins through RNA-i destruction we are able to inhibit virus growth inside the plants. This is a type of defense mechanism generated by plant itself by introducing foreign genes(combination of viral coat protein and RNA-i ) into the plant.
