This study was designed to find out the relationship between the school regulations awareness and effective management of student discipline in secondary schools in Rwanda with the case study of Muhanga District. It generally intended to determine the level of awareness of school regulations held by secondary school leaders and to examine how that level of awareness relates to the effective management of student discipline in secondary schools. In addition, the study was to investigate infractions and methods used by school leaders in the management of student discipline in secondary schools and examine if those methods are consistent with the school general regulations. The findings of the study revealed that some school leaders have a fair knowledge about the school regulations while others are still characterized by ignorance of those school regulations. It was also revealed that many disciplinary infractions were experienced in secondary schools and school leaders used a widerange of methods managing those infractions. Some of the methods used were judged inconsistent with the school general regulations due to different reasons.
