Propofol is being increasingly used in anaesthesia practice because of its properties like smooth induction, rapid and clear headed recovery and absence of cumulative effects. But pain during its intravenous injection is still being tackled. In our mission to control this pain, we compared Inj. Lignocaine, which is normally used for this purpose, with other routinely used drug in anesthesia. The study compares Lignocaine with Metoclopramide,a prokinetic, and combination of both of these drugs to control pain of intravenous Propofol injection. The study helped us understand the inadequacies of the previous pain management and provide better pain relief to the patients.
