Autorenporträt
Virgil W. Dean, a native Kansan, has been researching and writing about Kansas and regional history for 30 years. He has edited Kansas History: A Journal of the Central Plains for 25 years and is the author or editor of four books and numerous articles, encyclopedia entries, and book reviews. A resident of Lawrence for more than 30 years, Dean has been actively involved in the preservation community, serving on the city's Historic Resources Commission and the board of the Lawrence Preservation Alliance. The images selected for this volume come mainly from the collections of the Spencer Research Library at the University of Kansas and the Douglas County Historical Society/Watkins Museum of History.
