This book explores "Sonification" - the transmission of information via sound as applied to gestural pattern recognition in the art of conducting. The first chapter examines how the aural sense has become complex enough to allow for the understanding of structured concepts such as language and music. Then, we look at the evolution of Sonification and the sound attributes used in Sonification. Furthermore, we explore the basic concepts of Sonification, the precepts of gesture, connections between the two, and how challenging these associations can be. The final chapter is devoted to a practical application of gesture tracking in video as we see how to make use of motion tracking systems to make sound and music.
